Description

These three new McKenzie River cabins are part of a planned resort community located on a 6.23± acre site that has been redeveloped with 22 cabins. The site was previously occupied by the historic Log Cabin Inn that was destroyed by fire in 2006.

The Log Cabin Inn, originally a stage stop in the 1890s, later became a riverfront resort and was placed on the National Historic Registry. The one surviving cabin has been named “ The Hoover Cabin” because former President Herbert Hoover, along with Clark Gable, the Duke of Windsor and others, stayed at the Log Cabin Inn due to its location along the McKenzie River. The McKenzie River is one of the West’s premier rivers for native Rainbow and Cutthroat trout fishing, as well as steelhead and Spring Chinook salmon.

The Log Cabin Inn property has 900± feet of riverfront and a strategic location in the heart of the McKenzie River Valley, a one hour drive from Eugene and I–5 and east to central Oregon’s golf and ski resorts. The Tokatee Golf Course is within a five–minute drive of the Log Cabin Inn Resort.

There is a boat launch at Paradise, three miles from the Log Cabin Inn property. The McKenzie River Trailhead and additional hiking options are nearby. Downhill and cross country skiing is within a 45–minute drive of Hoodoo Ski Area at Santiam Pass. Other recreation activities include horseback riding and hunting in the Willamette National Forest, and soaking in the Belknap Hot Springs. The McKenzie Bridge State Airport with its 2,600 foot air strip is three miles from the Log Cabin Inn property.

The cabins were designed by award–winning architect David Edrington from Eugene, who also designed the Metolius River Resort Cabins in Camp Sherman, Oregon and has used historical authenticity in construction and site design for river viewing. Seven of the cabins, including the historic Hoover Cabin, are located on a ridge overlooking the meadow that contains the additional fifteen cabins. The finished floor levels of these fifteen cabins are above the one– hundred–year–flood–plain, and supported by concrete piers, allowing potential flood water to pass under each cabin. Future development of three additional units is proposed at the entry to the Log Cabin Inn Resort.

Each cabin has cedar shingle siding with knotty pine interior walls, fir floors, screened porch, river rock gas fireplace and fully equipped kitchen with GE appliances. The kitchen in the one bedroom does not have an oven. There are a total of 21 new cabins, of which 18 feature a two–story, two bedroom layout and 3 feature a single–story with two bathroom layout. Eight have been sold since 2010 and three cabins (#22, #13 and #20) are being offered at Auction with Reserve Prices established at discounts of up to $90,000 from the last asking prices, with special financing arranged by Siuslaw Bank.

The quarterly Homeowner Association Fee is $400, and includes maintenance of the common area, community water and septic system, and insurance. (See Supplemental Information Package for details.) The 11 unsold cabins, which include some riverfront units, are available for sale, with prices that range from $349,000 to $499,000. The Hoover Cabin is available at $229,000 and will require renovation.
