DESCRIPTION: This 239± acre timber tract is located 20 miles southwest of the community of Powers in a remote area along the slopes of Mt. Avery, between the Sixes and South Fork Sixes River drainages. It is 2.5 miles northeast of the Grassy Knob Wilderness in the Siskiyou National Forest. There is no current physical access developed to the tract, with a drivable logging road in the Siskiyou National Forest within one mile of the southeast corner. An old spur road on private land, accessible only by ATV, provides access to the northwest corner. Note: Correction to Catalog Description - only about 18.2± acres contain merchantable timber that is physically available for harvest. Another 60.5± acres are stocked with pre-merchantable trees. The balance of the tract containing 110± acres is dominated by old growth Douglas fir, which is inaccessible due to steep and rugged terrain, making it non-commercial and hazardous to harvest and 49± acres in non-commercial rocky areas.
