the North Fork John Day River and John Day Fossil Beds National
Monument, and is surrounded by primarily BLM lands and the Malheur
National Forest. The property has potential carbon credit values,
based on a Carbon Report prepared by Ecotrust Forest Management,
Inc. There also may be conservation opportunities for habitat and
riparian enhancement along creeks tributary to the John Day River.
The 4,865± acre Bear Creek Ranch is located between the
ranching communities of John Day and Prairie City, with year-round
access from Highway 26. The ranch overlooks the John Day River Valley
and has spectacular views south of the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness
