The Opportunity
Minam River Lodge, with its riverfront location, is the largest remaining private property in the 360,000± acre Eagle Cap Wilderness in the heart of northeast Oregon's Wallowa Mountains. This area is known for its high alpine lakes and meadows, granite peaks, and both wild and scenic Lostine and Minam Rivers. The property is the only operating fly-in commercial wilderness lodge in eastern Oregon. It has a spectacular location with over one-half mile of frontage on the Minam River, recognized as an outstanding fly fishing stream for bull and rainbow trout and as a spawning tributary for the Grande Ronde stock of chinook salmon.

The U-shaped, heavily old-growth-forested Minam River Valley is a premier reserve for Big Game hunting of trophy elk and deer. Its length and remote location distinguishes it as a popular destination for backpackers, horse packers and back country anglers. There is access from Moss Springs Trailhead, located eight and a half miles southwest of Minam River Lodge. There are many high alpine lakes located east of Minam River, and within a day hike of the property.

Minam River Lodge was originally constructed in the 1950's, and is next to Red's Horse Ranch, an 80± acre historic dude ranch acquired by the U.S. Forest Service in 1994 at a cost of $1,400,000. It is maintained by the U.S. Forest Service and is not used commercially.

Minam River Lodge is leased to Steens Wilderness Adventures (www.minam lodgeoutfitters.com) and provides a new owner with a turn-key opportunity to continue its commercial operation with use of its facilities or the option for conversion to a private fly-in wilderness retreat or hunting/fly fishing club.
