Well-stocked stands of primarily 27 to 33 year old timber in Block
A - Sections 34 & 26 - Click Photos to Enlarge
This 4,381± acre block is the largest ownership block within Rock
Creek Tree Farm, and is located west of the Rock Creek BLM mainline
road. It has an estimated 1.3 miles of Rock Creek frontage in Section
20 next to the BLM Millpond Campground, providing some opportunities
for conservation or recreation values.
Block
A has the highest concentration of pre-merchantable and merchantable
stands having a Site Class II which contributes to the productivity
of the lands and increases both near term growth and cash flow.
There is an estimated 4,065± MBF of merch and 30,400± MBF of pre-merch
on Block A. It is projected that in 20 years the growth from these
stands will provide an additional 128,000± MBF due to the combination
of 89% of these lands in the 21-35± year old age class with a highly
productive site class, and the impact of the combination of silvacultural
activities during the last ten years by Rosboro. The bulk of the
lands in Block A have been fertilized, and pre-commercial and commercial
thinning has been completed on 695± acres. 156± acres have been
recently clear-cut and replanted.
The McComas, Kelly, Shoup, Harrington and Stoney Creeks tributaries
to Rock Creek are located on a small area of the Block A ownership.
Elevations range from 1,100± to 3,900± feet with BLM roads providing
access to the entire ownership. Adjoining private lands are owned
primarily by Roseburg Forest Products.
